Maintenance Manager
We’re looking for a maintenance manager to look after the physical state of the island. This is a hands-on job, not a desk job. You’ll spend most of the day out on the property, deciding what needs doing and doing much of it yourself.
The heart of the role is regular, thorough assessment. You’ll walk the clubhouse rooms, cabanas and villas on a set schedule. You’ll judge each one against the standard our members expect, then fix what needs fixing and plan the upgrades that will raise it. That could be a sticking door, a tired bathroom, or a room that needs repainting before the season. The same eye goes to the docks, the clubhouse, the grounds and the buildings behind the scenes.
What you’ll do
- Inspect the rooms, cabanas, villas and common areas regularly, and keep a clear record of their condition and what needs attention.
- Carry out repairs yourself across carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical and general fixes.
- Plan and deliver upgrades and refurbishments, setting priorities so the work most noticeable to members gets done first.
- Lead and schedule the maintenance crew, including our painters and carpenters, and check the standard of their work.
- Keep tools, equipment and spare parts in order, and order materials ahead of time. On an island, the part you forgot to order is a week away.
- Work with housekeeping and the front desk so rooms are repaired between stays without disturbing guests.
What we’re looking for
- Proven experience maintaining a hotel, resort, marina or similar property, with a record of doing the work yourself, not just overseeing it.
- A broad set of trade skills, and the judgment to know when a job needs a specialist.
- A high standard: you notice the chipped paint and the loose hinge before anyone else does.
- You’re organized enough to run a schedule of inspections and keep it going.
- Practical problem-solving, because materials and outside help aren’t always close at hand.
